I met Lionel Dinis-Salazar, half of Döppel Studio, when we both freelanced for a design agency in Paris last year. Lionel was always one of those rare, kind and down to earth people. He was full of interesting ideas, dedication and brought a friendly and supportive disposition to the office.
I was looking forward to see what he would do next when he went out on his own and was pleased to hear from him 8 months later now with how far he has come as one half of creative duo 'Döppel Studio' with partner Jonathan Omar.
Experimenting within the realm of furniture and object design using innovative and surprising themes and methods - the two have turned out some pretty interesting first pieces. I am especially enthralled with their use of crystallisation and light in their project Crystal Palace. Using 3D printing and studying the application of crystallisation phenomenon, the duo experiments with mineral solutions to create unique light fixtures.
I am very excited to track their progress and see what they continue to do! Have a look at the two young French designers shaking things up in the design world in Paris at the moment.
