Creative Vacations_ Europe Edition 2017 | I. Villa Noailles

say hi to_ Villa Noailles

So if you don't already know, I am originally from New York but have been living in France for the past three and a half years. Ever since I have arrived here in France I have seen friends, colleagues, people I stalk on instagram flocking to Villa Noailles every summer for their annual 'Design Parade'. Sadly, I have never been able to make it yet but I am super excited to finally be checking it out this summer!

As a passionate francophile, after a few years of living here I really want to highlight some of the amazing and contemporary design related events and spots throughout France. You'll be see me posting a lot in the coming 6 months about the design scene, designers and spots in France to coincide with a big announcement about a project we have been working on behind the scenes for the past year, which is coming soon. Still a secret.... stay tuned!

Back to Villa Noailles Design Parade - it is held in the South of France between the two picturesque cities of Toulon and Hyères... so not only do you get to see exhibitions from the best up and coming designers and interior designers from throughout France and Europe, but you are surrounded by rich and beautiful French culture and architecture. Oh yeah did I mention, Hyères is in the South... which also means sun. and beach. and amazing French food. and pastis. SO EXCITED ALREADY!

This teaser is from last year but I thought it could give you a taste of what Villa Noailles 'Design Parade' is about, if you don't already know.

There will be two main events happening.

I. Interior Design Parade - Toulon
II. Design Parade - Hyères

The Competition

For the first competition (Interior Design Parade - Toulon), the young interior designers sent in their project proposals for the interior design and decoration for a living room. They designed their projects around plans provided by the festival and in a maximum budget of 2.000 euro that could be completed with the support of the festival's partners (funiture, objects, materials).

For the second competition (Design Parade Hyères), the young designers sent in applications by March 1st including their portfolio showcasing previous works and one to three projects designed specifically for Hyères.

The jury gathered on March 16 and 17, 2017 in the Opéra de Toulon to select the ten finalists from among 150 applications for the Interior Design Parade Toulon and to select ten finalists from 250 applications for the Design Parade Hyères.

The jury will see the ten finalists in Toulon for the Interior Design Parade, in individual meetings during the festival and then will award the Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon - Van Cleef & Arpels. They will equally visit each of the ten designers showcased at the Design Parade Hyères to select one winner of the Design Gran Prix.
