say hi to_ Villa Lena
Has anyone else been dreaming about that Tuscan landscape, fresh Italian food and a place to detox and find a bit of inspiration? I know I have. I love to take little breaks every once and awhile to go to an inspiring and beautiful rural place where I can try to get a handle on my phone addiction and, as cheesy as it might sound, give my thoughts and ideas a chance to breathe.
I've been hearing about Villa Lena's picturesque retreat and it's renown artist residency for quite some time now. I can only imagine the Italian sun on your back, a fresh wind in your hair, the smell of herbs and cypress trees being the perfect setting to get out of busy city life, take life a bit slower and develop on ideas and collaborative projects. Each year the Villa welcomes a number of selected artists to spend two months at Villa Lena developing their project of choice.
Promoting 'agritourism' and a farm-to-table style restaurant experience, Chefs in residence pick and forage vegetables and herbs from the domaine's grounds to prepare fresh meals for daily changing menus.

What? Artist Residency, Summer Workshops and Agri-tourism Holiday Destination
Where? Tuscany, Italy
When? All Summer
1.200 acres of sprawling woodlands, rolling hills, olive groves and vineyards - this is what Tuscan dreams are made of. This is a real place... and you can go there. This may be a hotel and retreat off of the beaten track but it is also at it's core a centre for art, community and creative collaboration. You can have breakfast with a ceramicist from Stockholm, a walk on the grounds with a dancer from Colombia or a swim in the pool with a design curator from New York.
A true international creative meeting place, Villa Lena hosts the perfect place to relax, enjoy the sun and one of their (three) pools while surrounding yourself with creative likeminded professionals.
Offering multiple places to stay and to rest and enjoy your break, guests are invited to rent apartments or houses which are spread over the estate, including rooms in converted stables, self- contained apartments, and private houses.
In the main Villa or Renacchi, there are 6 individual apartments to rent, fully equipped with their own kitchen in the event that you are inspired to create an Italian feast of your own. The pool and an outdoor wood fire grill area at the Renacchi are perfect for evening BBQ’s and chats. They also have a screening room, games room, three pools (drooling), a restaurant and bar as well as a yoga terrace.
Check out the interior design below. High ceilings, crisp white linens and walls illuminated by the golden Italian light and beautiful up cycled eclectic furniture. So cozy and contemporary chic.

We got the scoop from Villa Lena, a non-for-profit foundation, about their Artist's Residency program and what exactly that entails. Selected artists, from visual artists to writers, musicians, designers and multidisciplinary creators are invited to apply and if selected, are offered the opportunity to stay for two months to realise a proposed project.
The artists are provided with accommodation in the nineteenth century villa, the heart of the property, and a substantial sized studio space of their own to work from. At the end of their stay they are asked to donate a piece of work to Villa Lena, these pieces adorn the estate and will later be sold to make room for new works as well as help raise funds for the continuation of the residency program.
Artists in residence work together to put together weekly workshops, lectures and events that guests can eqially partcipate in!
